LAHORE: The city chapter of Pakistan People’s Party plans a rally at Minar-i-Pakistan to mark birthday of President Asif Ali Zardari on July 25.

Lahore President Faisal Mir announced at a press conference on Sunday that chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari would address the rally.

Flanked by Senator Ammar Ahmed Khan, General Secretary Dr Ayesha Shaukat and Vice President Azain Gulzar, Mir also introduced three party candidates who will contest the Cantonment Board elections.

Taking a swipe at the ruling Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz, Mir rejected the claims of transforming Lahore into one of Pakistan’s most developed cities, pointing out that even the areas surrounding the Sharif family’s residences continued to lack basic civic amenities.

He further announced that the PPP would field candidates across all union councils of Lahore in the upcoming local bodies elections.
