RAWALPINDI: The Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) has decided to construct markets and plazas on vacant plots and open spaces in its housing schemes in the garrison city.

This was stated in the meeting held with Commissioner Abdul Aamer Khattak in the chair.

The meeting was attended by senior officials of RDA Additional Director General Masood Ahmad and Chief Engineer Anwar Baran.

During the meeting, the Estate Management Directorate gave a detailed briefing on a new initiative related to asset management.

The officials informed that the initiative covers vacant properties and open spaces located in 13 housing schemes owned by the Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA).

The primary objectives of the initiative are to protect RDA properties from land grabbers and illegal encroachments, generate sustainable sources of revenue for RDA through construction and development on these properties and ensure the efficient and optimal utilization of land within existing RDA housing schemes.

The commissioner said that all possible measures should be taken to transform unused land into productive and revenue-generating assets. He directed RDA to provide full facilitation and cooperation to the Director Estate Management for the successful implementation of the initiative. He also instructed that project designs for construction on these vacant spaces be prepared on a priority basis to ensure the immediate execution of the plan.
