PESHAWAR: Commemorating the first anniversary of Operation Bunyan-um-Marsoos at Pakistan Embassy in Kabul, Ambassador Ubaidur Rehman Nizamani reaffirmed the nation’s resolve to defend itself against any aggression.

He said that enemy attacked the nation and armed forces of Pakistan responded valiantly on behalf of every Pakistani. Paying glowing tribute to armed forces, Ambassador Nizamani affirmed that the nation stood eternally indebted to their sacrifices.

“Pakistan’s desire for peace must never be mistaken for weakness,” he said, calling for heightened vigilance against emerging threats in the region. He cited the recent election in West Bengal, which resulted in renewed, systemic violence against the Muslims of West Bengal, as a warning sign of anti-Muslim policies in India. He added that in such volatile times, the nation’s unequivocal backing of its armed forces was imperative for national security.

Ambassador Nizamani, while saluting the unwavering courage of Kashmiri Muslims, reaffirmed the nation’s commitment to Pakistan’s principled stand of providing moral, political and diplomatic support for the Kashmiris right to self-determination as enshrined in the various UNSC resolutions.

On Afghanistan, he reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to brotherly ties and urged the Afghan regime to take concrete action against terrorist threats emanating from its soil. Highlighting Pakistan’s diplomatic role in easing US-Iran tensions, he said that such initiatives reflect Pakistan’s sincere desire for global peace.

On this occasion, messages of President Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister Mohammad Shehbaz Sharif and Deputy Prime Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar were also read out and the special documentary on Operation Bunyan-um-Marsoos was also screened.
