KARACHI: As many as 1,542 graduates were awarded degrees at the annual convocation of Ziauddin University (ZU).

Degrees were conferred upon students from various disciplines during the four-day Graduation Week 2026 celebrations at the varsity.

Speaking as the chief guest, Sindh High Court Chief Justice Zafar Ahmed Rajput said, “Any profession you choose is not only a duty but a moral responsibility that demands compassion, integrity, and the highest ethical standards.

“People do not seek expertise alone; they seek reassurance, empathy, and trust. Your words, conduct, and character will often carry as much value as your professional expertise. You are entering an era of rapid advancement in science and technology”.

Reflecting on the evolving landscape of technology, he advised the graduates, “As you step into a rapidly advancing world, remain mindful that innovation must always be guided by ethics. Use your knowledge responsibly, ensure fair and equitable access to opportunities and services, and never lose sight of the human element in your profession. True success will come not only from technical excellence but from lifelong learning and service to humanity with integrity and compassion”.

While awarding the Sir Ziauddin Gold Medals, ZU Pro Chancellor Prof Dr Nida Hussain highlighted the varsity’s expanding national presence, noting its growing footprint in Lahore, Sukkur, and the planned expansion to Islamabad as Federal Ziauddin University.

Praising the graduates, she stated, “This is not just the end of your academic journey but the beginning of your responsibility. Carry forward the trust of your families and society with integrity, compassion, and purpose. Let your knowledge serve others, and move ahead with both confidence and humility.”

In his welcome address, ZU VC Prof Dr Muhammad Ali Shaikh commended the graduating students on their remarkable achievement.
