ISLAMABAD: The National Accountability Bureau (NAB), Karachi, has recovered 80 acres of valuable government land worth Rs6 billion that had been illegally allotted to M/s Bahria Town at the Gulistan-i-Sarmast Housing Scheme, Deh Ganjo Takkar, Hyderabad.

According to NAB, the land is located in a prime area of Hyderabad. The management of Bahria Town allegedly secured the illegal allotment and possession of the land for a nominal amount of Rs383 million, which was also not fully paid.

Furthermore, M/s Bahria Town failed to fulfill the terms and conditions of the allotment, defeating the stated purpose of the land, which was the establishment of a university.

NAB Karachi identified the illegal allotment and took up the matter with the Hyderabad Development Authority (HDA). As a result of NAB’s efforts and intervention, the HDA has cancelled the allotment and repossessed the land, while also forfeiting the partially paid amount by M/s Bahria Town Pvt Ltd.
