KARACHI: A man and his wife were run over and killed by a fast-moving oil tanker on the Superhighway on Monday evening.

An Edhi Foundation spokesperson said the couple was heading somewhere on a motorcycle when the heavy vehicle hit them near Kathore bridge.

They sustained critical injuries and were taken to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital, where doctors pronounced them dead on arrival.

They were identified as Arshad Ahmed, 46, and his wife Afshan, 38.

Meanwhile, two passers-by suffered bullet wounds in a shoot-out between police and street criminals in Surjani Town on Monday evening.

Area SHO Sohail Khaskheli identified the passers-by as Rubina Noman, 30, and Zeeshan Sirajuddin, 18. He said they were caught in the crossfire and were shifted to the ASH for treatment.

He said that the suspects were overpowered by area people, who subjected them to severe beating.
