HYDERABAD, July 2: Two minor boys drowned in a pond on Sunday while another was rescued. Four friends Saddam Hussain, 10, Mohammad Umer, Sakhawat Chandio, 13, and Waheed Chandio, 8, had gone for swimming in the pond in Sehrish Nagar.

Saddam Hussain and Mohammad Umer were overtaken by water while Sakhawat Chandio was rescued by local people.

The boys lived in katchi abadi near the animal husbandry office in Hussainabad.

According to Sakhawat, a class-VI student, first Umer and Saddam Hussain jumped into the pond.

They were swimming. It appeared that they lost control and slipped into a crater. Saddam and Umer originally belonged to Dadu district.

Sakhawat said his foot had also slipped and he started crying; then became unconscious. Waheed, who was standing near the pond, screamed and area people rushed to the spot and rescued Sakhawat. The bodies have been fished out.
