Suspect shot dead in ‘encounter’

KARACHI: A suspected robber was shot dead in an alleged encounter on Shahrah-i-Quaideen on Sunday morning, police said.

The Ferozabad police said a Shaheen Force personnel spotted some suspicious persons near the Tariq Road graveyard. When they tried to stop them, the suspect opened fire and in an ensuing exchange of firing one of the suspects was killed.

A pistol, motorcycle and cash were recovered from his custody.

The deceased was identified as Adil Mehmood, who was wanted in several cases pertaining to robberies, motorcycle snatching and street crime.

Arms seized

The Baloch Colony police claimed to have arrested a man in Rehman Colony and seized a large cache of arms.

The seized weapons included 12-bore shotguns, MP-5, M-4 and 7-mm rifles and 9mm pistols.

SSP-East Zubair Shaikh said suspect Rashid Altaf was involved in illegal trading of firearms.
