SHANGLA: Federal Minister for Kashmir Affairs and Gilgit-Baltistan Amir Muqam has said that he would spare no effort to serve the people of remote Shangla district.

Addressing a ceremony after inaugurating the Jatkol Bridge and Koi Gharai Bridge in Chakisar, he said that he believed in serving people.

The Jatkol Bridge is set to benefit the residents of Jatkol and Masir villages.

Amir Muqam, who is Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz Khyber Pakhtunkhwa president, said that the Koi Gharai project was completed in a short span of time, adding development schemes were being executed to facilitate local people.

The minister said that he brought projects worth Rs29 billion to the area and completed more work in four months as compared to the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI).

He recalled that during the PTI tenure, NAB initiated inquiries against him and his son, leading to his imprisonment although, he maintained, that not a single rupee corruption was proven against him.

Criticising the opposition, Mr Muqam challenged the PTI’s record of development in the region and questioned what projects it had delivered in 13 years of government.

He highlighted his long-standing commitment to the area, citing his efforts during the 2010 floods, when he arranged private helicopter services for victims, as well as his role in bringing electricity to areas where it had previously been considered impossible.

Later, the PML-N leader inspected ongoing development projects including a 132KV grid station in Puran.
