RAWALPINDI: Five people were killed in different incidents, including a surveyor working at the Kutchery Chowk remodelling project, who died after falling beneath a grader machine, during the last two days.

A resident of district Layyah, who was working as a surveyor at a remodelling project at Kutchery Chowk, was seriously injured after coming under a grader machine. He was immediately shifted to the District Headquarters Hospital on Friday night, where the doctors pronounced him dead.

In another incident, a man was gunned down while two others were injured in a clash between the two groups over a land dispute in the Chontra area on Saturday.

A local of Chokar, Usman Khalid, informed the police that a suspect, along with seven to eight armed men, was attempting to take illegal possession of their ancestral land. He said when he, along with his father and others, reached the spot and tried to stop them, they opened fire. As a result, he and Khalid Mehmood and Mulazim Hussain, his companions, were seriously injured after being shot. All the three injured were shifted to the hospital, where Khalid Mehmood succumbed to his injuries. Police have registered a case and launched an investigation. No arrests have been made by the police so far.

In another incident, two people died while another one was injured in a road traffic accident at Thalian Interchange on Saturday.

According to Rescue 1122, the accident occurred between a mini-truck and a Mehran car. As a result, Faizan, 27, sustained head injuries and died, while Ashraf, 55, also sustained head injuries and died on the spot. Abid Hussain, 45, sustained injuries and was shifted to the hospital by rescue 1122.

Police said that in a suicide incident, Mohammad Aslam, 62, a resident of Tehmsbabad who was working as a vehicle mechanic and running a small shop at Chaklala Road, was facing financial and debt issues. Due to ‘mental stress’, he committed suicide by hanging himself with a rope tied to the ceiling of his house.

He also left a suicide note behind saying that he was in distress due to non-payment of debt.
