LAHORE: The National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) has arrested a suspect in Faisalabad in connection with an alleged social media harassment case.

According to NCCIA Punjab Director Muhammad Ali Waseem, the action was taken on a complaint filed by a woman, who stated that private images of her daughter were shared on social media through a fake account.

The complainant further alleged that the images were accompanied by inappropriate content, causing social harm to her daughter.

The director said the girl’s family also received threats via WhatsApp.

During the inquiry, statements of the complainant and the victim were recorded, and digital evidence was analysed.

Following the inquiry, he said, the suspect was arrested from Faisalabad.

Initial analysis of the mobile phone recovered from the suspect shows his links to several social media accounts.

A case has been registered against the suspect, the director said.
