TOBA TEK SINGH: The district police claim to have busted an organised online gambling network and arrested three accused during a raid.
A police spokesperson said on Friday, acting on a tip-off, the police raided an organised online gambling network and seized dozens of mobile phones, LCDs, manual record registers and other digital and financial records.
During the operation, the police arrested three accused identified as Umar Farooq of Kausarabad, Pirmahal, Naveed of Chak 334 GB, Rajuwal, and Qamar Nawaz of Khanjawan, a locality of Pirmahal.
He added that according to initial investigations, the arrested accused were involved in online betting on the Indian Premier League (IPL) cricket matches through an organised network.
The spokesperson claimed that this network was making illegal transactions worth millions of rupees through various online platforms and mobile apps.
The police have started further investigation while operations are underway to arrest others associated with the network.
ARRESTS: The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) claims to have arrested three suspects during an operation on Friday against illegal foreign currency exchanges.
A Faisalabad FIA spokesperson said that FIA teams arrested Abdul Rehman from Khanewal and Zaheeruddin Babar and Muhammad Imran from Rahim Yar Khan.
According to the initial investigation, the accused were involved in the illegal foreign currency exchange business. During the operation, mobile phones, 650 UAE dirhams and ATM cards of various banks were recovered from the possession of the accused persons.
The spokesperson said that it was further revealed that the accused were also involved in bank fraud in addition to illegal currency exchange, in which the collusion of some bank officials had also been found.
A case has been registered against the accused and further investigation was underway, while the role of other suspects was also being determined.
Meanwhile, a Faisalabad anti-corruption special judge handed down three years imprisonment along with a fine of Rs700,000 to government schoolteacher Mubeena Nazir on Friday.
The convict got appointed as an educator at the education department on fake education degrees. After proving the charges against her, the anti-corruption establishment had submitted the challan of the case against her before the court.
RAPE: A man allegedly kidnapped a 15-year-old girl and raped her on gunpoint in Qila Bhamman Singhwala in Nankana Sahib district on Friday.
The victim’s mother claimed in her complaint that her daughter was passing through the street when the accused along with a masked accomplice abducted her at gunpoint. She claimed that they took her to the crops fields outside the locality, where the accused raped her and the masked man stood guard.
Police were conducting raids to arrest the accused persons.
CHILD DROWNS: A one-and-a-half-year old child drowned after falling into a water course in Gojra on Friday.
Reports said deceased Babal Maseeh, son of labourer Arshad Masih of Mohalla Sharifabad, was playing outside his house when he suddenly slipped into the water channel. After a while, a local woman saw the body in the water and informed his parents.
UNWHOLESOME MEAT: A Punjab Food Authority (PFA) team led by Deputy Director Operations Yasir Mushtaq conducted an operation on Mongi Road and Adda Basheerabad in Gojra on Friday and recovered dead chickens from two vehicles.
A PFA official claimed that 1,424 kilograms of dead chickens, recovered from two vehicles, were destroyed after it was found to be unhealthy for human consumption by a veterinary doctor.
A total of five suspects were arrested in both operations and cases were registered against them. The PFA also impounded both vehicles and handed them over to the Gojra Saddar Police for further legal action.
