Two more suspects killed in ‘encounters’

GUJRAT: Two suspects were killed and as many were injured in separate encounters with the police in different parts of the province on Friday.

In one incident, a Gujranwala Police official said that suspect Fahad alias Qadri, who was on physical remand in a case of raping a seven-year-old girl in Gakhar Mandi, was being taken for a potency test.

The official claimed that the suspect managed to escape the police custody in the Wazirabad Saddar Police precinct after his accomplices ambushed the police team.

During the exchange of fire, constable Ali Raza sustained a bullet injury, whereas the fleeing suspect was later found shot dead allegedly by the firing of his accomplices.

In another encounter, the Gujranwala Police claimed that drug peddler Asif, also wanted in a kidnap case, was killed by the firing of his accomplices in the Aimenabad Police precinct.

Police claimed to have recovered drugs from the scene and said that two armed accomplices of the deceased suspect fled the scene during the encounter.

SAHIWAL: The Yousafwala Police claimed to have arrested two injured dacoits after an encounter in village 73/5-L on Thursday night.

Police claimed that a Yousafwala Police team was on routine patrol when they received an emergency call at Bagri Wala Pull near village 73/5-L where dacoits had snatched two motorcycles from villagers.

Acting on the information, police claimed to have intercepted four dacoits on as many motorcycles. The suspects allegedly opened fire, leading to a 15-minute crossfire. Later, police claimed to have arrested two injured dacoits, while the other two suspects succeeded in slipping away in the dark.

The injured dacoits were identified as Sajid and Farooq and police claimed to have recovered stolen motorcycles, pistols and mobile phones from them. They were shifted to the Sahiwal Teaching Hospital.
