LARKANA: Four in-laws, including a man and his son, were arrested after the body of a 22-year-old woman was found hanging from the ceiling of their home in the city’s Rizwan Colony on Friday.
The area police brought down the body of Murk Khokhar, upon receiving information from her in-laws that she had died by suicide. However, after inspecting the room and examining the body, officials from the Rehmatpur police station believed that she might have been strangled to death before her body was hanged.
They arrested the victim’s father-in-law, his son and their two other family members, including a woman. They kept the arrested suspects names secret till strong evidence and proof against them were obtained.
The police said that circumstantial evidence suggested that it was a “staged murder”, and not a suicide case. They said that since the victim’s family chose not to lodge a murder FIR, the case was registered on behalf of the state.
In the meantime, the woman’s body was taken to the Chandka Medical College Hospital for a postmortem examination. While a report was awaited, the body was handed over to her family for burial.
According to the police, the victim’s family also avoided to give any statement regarding the incident.
The police were trying to ascertain the exact reason for the alleged suicide or murder.
