LAHORE: The police claimed to have resolved the murder of the three children hours after they were found slain at their house at Shah Jamal on Thursday, saying that the three siblings were killed by their mother over estrangement with her husband.

The children were identified as Momina Batool (5), her brother Momin Raza (4), and one-and-a-half-year old sister Umme Habiba.

According to the initial reports, the children were recovered in a pool of blood with their throats slit in a room at the multistory residential building near Shah Jamal.

In a shocking twist of murder of three children, DIG Operations Faisal Kamran declared that they were allegedly slain by their mother, Rida, over some domestic disputes with her husband.

Talking to Dawn, he said that the woman has confessed to her crime saying she had sour relations with her husband for the last many months as what she said he used to force her to develop relations with some men.

During interrogation, the woman told the police that she wanted to die by suicide but abandoned the plan fearing that her husband may expel her children from the house, leaving them at the mercy of other people.

Talking about the drop scene of the triple murder case, the police officer said that Rida then planned to kill her children. She bought a sharp knife from a market to execute the murder plan, the police said, adding that she was taken into custody over some suspicions when she changed her statements during questioning. Earlier, some reports suggested that the police have taken the uncle of the slain children into custody for questioning as he was spotted walking in the street at the time of the incident.

Meanwhile, Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz expressed grief over the killing of three children and sought an immediate report on the incident.
