LOWER DIR: Two persons, including a government schoolteacher, were arrested for solving papers during the ongoing secondary school certificate examinations, officials said on Saturday.

They said that the arrests were made during an action by officials of the Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education, Malakand.

Teams led by controller of examinations Dr Ayaz Ahmed, raided examination halls in Munda, Khal in Lower Dir and Wari in Upper Dir to prevent cheating in the examinations.

In Munda, officials raided a private school where the English paper of grade 10th was allegedly being solved before the scheduled time with the help of a subject expert.

The team caught the suspects red-handed and seized the solved material from their possession.

The police registered a case against the school principal and two government teachers.

The principal and one teacher were arrested, while another teacher managed to escape.

In Upper Dir’s Wari tehsil, three individuals who owned photocopy shops were booked on charges of paper leak.

Meanwhile, action was recommended against the owner of a photocopy shop in Khal for his alleged involvement in facilitating cheating in the examination.
