KHYBER: The 27 public sector educational institutions in the border areas of the Landi Kotal tehsil that were closed in early March due to clashes between Pakistani and Afghan forces will reopen on Monday, officials said.

They said that though a notification was issued on Thursday by the Khyber district education officer for the reopening of these primary, middle and high schools, the reopening was delayed till Monday (April 20) due to three weekly holidays on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

The officials said that the department had earlier arranged for an alternative examination centre, which was established for students of Pasedkhel in Kharghali, for matriculation students from Bazaar-Zakhakhel and Loe Shalman areas.

As many as 27 government schools for boys and girls in Bazaar-Zakhakhel, Loe Shalman, Pasedkhel and Bacha Maina were closed in early March due to an escalation in cross-border shelling.
