QUETTA: Former Balo­chistan chief minister and president of the National Party, Dr Abdul Malik Baloch, has said that his party will not compromise on public ownership of province’s resources, constitutional supremacy, and Balochistan’s right to authority.

He added that no mining policy would be accepted if it deprives the people of Balochistan of their rights.

A meeting of the Mining Committee, formed by the National Party, was held at its central secretariat under the chairmanship of Dr Abdul Malik Baloch. Committee members and legal experts attended the meeting.

Participants reviewed the Balochistan Mines and Minerals Act and held detailed consultations on the proposed amendments.

They expressed serious concern that, due to non-transparent policies and unequal agreements in the mining sector, the people of Balochistan are not receiving the true benefits of their natural resources.

Dr Abdul Malik Baloch emphasised that any future legislation must ensure Balochistan’s full authority, complete control over its resources, and the inclusion of the local population.

He said that the party would finalise its recommendations and present them to the relevant forums so that fair and people-friendly amendments can be introduced, ensuring that people of Balochistan are the primary beneficiaries of the province’s resources.
