QUETTA: One person was killed and six others injured in a gas cylinder explosion at an ice factory in the Gulistan area of Qila Abdullah district on Wednesday.

Police said the explosion occurred while workers were busy inside the factory. “One worker was killed on the spot after sustaining multiple serious injuries, while six others were injured,” they said.

Police and officials of the local administration rushed to the factory after receiving information about the explosion, which was heard over a wide area. The body and the injured were shifted to the Qila Abdullah District Hospital.

The injured, who sustained burn wounds, were later shifted to Quetta for further treatment.
