SARGODHA: The Punjab Food Authority (PFA) claimed to have foiled an attempt to supply substandard meat and destroyed 300kg of unhealthy meat hidden in a vehicle.

According to PFA, a food safety team foiled the attempt near the interprovincial check post in Dajal in the Bhakkar district of Sargodha region and handed over one accused and the vehicle to the police.

PFA said that a case had been registered against accused Atiqur Rehman, Nadeem, Imran and unknown persons at the Bhakkar Saddar Police station on the complaint of Fayyaz Javed of the food safety team and further investigation was underway.

DEATH SENTENCE: A Khushab district and sessions judge sentenced a man to death for the murder of a young man and acquitted his two accomplices, his brother and father, giving them the benefit of doubt.

Muhammad Ashfaq of Choha village in Quaidabad town of Khushab had shot dead Mansar Hayat Awan four years ago over a long-standing enmity. On this, the Quaidabad Police registered a murder case against him, his brother and father and three others and sent the challan to the court.

The judge, while pronouncing the verdict, sentenced Muhammad Ashfaq to death and ordered him to pay Rs1 million as compensation, while acquitting his brother and father.

RAPE: A young girl was allegedly raped by a man in Chak 104 NB of Sargodha.

According to details, a girl was alone in the house when a man along with two others jumped into the house by scaling over a wall and allegedly raped the girl. When the girl raised the alarm, neighbours saved her. The Saddar Police were investigating the incident.
