Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has told Omani counterpart Badr Albusaidi in a phone call that Tehran is open to any serious efforts at de-escalation after Israeli and US attacks over the weekend, Reuters reports, citing a statement from Oman’s foreign ministry.
“He (Araghchi) stressed the necessity of addressing its (the conflict’s) roots and causes, alongside halting military operations, containing the crisis, and mitigating its repercussions on the region’s countries,” the statement reads.
“All parties also affirmed the need for an immediate cessation of all escalatory actions, respect for state sovereignty and the principles of international law, and they underscored the importance of exercising restraint, prioritising the language of dialogue and diplomacy, and returning to political and negotiating tracks.”
