Teen gets life jail in rape-murder case

LAHORE: A local court in Burewala has awarded life imprisonment to a teenage boy on two counts in a rape and murder case, while acquitting two co-accused due to lack of evidence.

Additional District and Sessions Judge Muhammad Mohsin announced the verdict on Feb 27, 2026, in rape and murder case registered by Sadar police station of Burewala.

According to prosecution, a-six-year old girl was found dead in a pound in Chak 265/ EB Burewala on August 13, 2022. A rape and murder case was registered against unidentified persons.

Later, the victim’s father nominated his nephew Suffiyan Ali alias Ali and his two accomplices Suffiyan alias Shani and Umair in the case. The prosecution presented the evidence in the court.

According to the judgment, the court found that the prosecution had successfully proved its case beyond reasonable doubt against the main accused, Sufayan Ali alias Ali, on the basis of reliable ocular, medical, circumstantial and recovery evidence.

The court sentenced the accused Ali to rigorous imprisonment for life in murder and directed him to pay Rs500,000 as compensation to the legal heirs of the deceased under Section 544-A CrPC. In case of default, he will undergo six months’ simple imprisonment.

The court also convicted the accused in rape charge and awarded rigorous imprisonment for life along with a fine of Rs200,000. In default of payment, he will have to serve an additional six months’ simple imprisonment. Both sentences shall run concurrently.

The court acquitted co-accused Sufayan alias Shani and Muhammad Umair, extending them the benefit of doubt.
