GUJRAT: The FIA immigration authorities on Thursday detained two passengers at Sialkot airport upon their return from Azerbaijan.

Both the passengers had earlier made a failed attempt to travel to Italy from Baku (Azerbaijan) through using the fake residence card of Greece and counterfeit stamps of Greece and Pakistan.

An FIA official told Dawn that Shahzad and Habibullah, both residents of Sialkot, had arrived from Baku by flight No. FZ-315.

He said during immigration clearance, counterfeit stamps of Greece and Pakistan were found on their passports and upon interrogation, they disclosed that they dealt with the agent namely Zia Sami (world travel vibe travel agency) of Darammaanwala Chowk, Sialkot, for Rs2 million.

The agent sent them to Baku on a visit visa from Lahore airport on Feb 21 and sub-agent Asif Khan of Baku received them outside the Baku Airport, and he took them to a hotel where the sub-agent affixed counterfeit stamps of Athens (Greece) and Sialkot airport (Pakistan) on their passports and handed over fake Greece residence cards.

Moreover, Asif Khan booked their tickets of Malpensa Airport Millano (Italy) dated Feb 25. However, when they attempted to depart from Baku Airport for Italy, the immigration officials confiscated their fake Greece residence cards and sent them back to Pakistan.
