MANSEHRA: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government is going to fill 270 lower grade employees’ posts lying vacant in boys’ educational institutions across Mansehra district.

“We have started the process of appointing as many as 270 watchmen at government primary, high and middle schools across the district,” Hidayatullah Khan, the district education officer, told reporters on Wednesday.

He said that the district education department was striving hard to impart quality education to students in public sector schools in the district and had first filled the posts of teachers and now the posts of watchmen were also being filled.

“The appointment of watchmen and teachers is part of the government’s initiative to ensure quality education to students in the district,” Mr Khan said.

The DEO said that parents-teachers councils established at every school in the district were also taken on board and they had submitted reports on how to ensure quality education while meeting their due needs.

Meanwhile, Torghar’s district administration has announced multiple measures to enhance the literacy rate and enroll out-of-school children in educational institutions.

“We have been focusing equally on both male and female education in the district to first enhance the existing literacy rate, particularly among girls,” Anwar Zeb Khan, the deputy commissioner Torghar, said while speaking at a meeting of the education uplifting forum held in Judbah on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, the district administration on Wednesday launched training sessions for e-stamp paper vendors to ease the load on the Bank of Khyber branches selling notary public documents.

The vendors, who had applied to become e-stamp paper vendors from different parts of the district, took part in the training sessions held at the district secretariat here.

The e-stamp papers, which were introduced at the start of 2026, had created chaos as the Treasury Department authorised only the central branch of the Bank of Khyber in Mansehra to issue the official documents.

Applicants from across Balakot, Oghi, Mansehra, Darband and Baffa-Pakhal tehsils had to rush to that specific branch to acquire e-stamp papers, spending both money and time.

“We are going to launch the sale of e-stamp papers through vendors in the district after Feb 20 and vendors selected for their sale are being trained,” Sana Fatima, the assistant commissioner, told the concluding training session.
