ISLAMABAD: After a gap of 11 years, development work in sectors F-14 and F-15 finally started as Federal Minister for Housing and Works Riaz Hussain Pirzada on Monday promised timely completion of the project.

The housing minister inaugurated the development work at a ceremony held at the project site. He unveiled the commemorative plaque and planted a tree along with Secretary Housing and Works retired Captain Muhammad Mehmood and MNAs Anjum Aqeel Khan and Malik Ibrar Ahmed.

According to the housing ministry, the National Logistics Corporation (NLC) will execute and complete the development works in both sectors. “The housing sectors were originally launched in 2015 but faced delays due to various administrative and legal issues. However, as a result of sustained efforts to resume the stalled works, development activities have now gained renewed momentum.

Sectors F-14 and F-15 comprise approximately 11,000 residential plots spread over 10,875 kanals, located at a prime site in Islamabad,” read a statement issued by the ministry.

Green Enclave allottees stage protest at ceremony

Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, the housing minister expressed satisfaction that FGEHA’s housing sectors were gradually coming back on track. He assured that fair compensation would be provided wherever applicable.

The minister reiterated his commitment to fulfilling all promises and ensuring transparent, efficient and timely completion of development projects.

Mr Pirzada highlighted that, under the guidance of the prime minister, the government would deliver on its promises and personally ensure the fulfillment of all commitments.

He also commended the FGEHA legal team for its efforts in resolving legal hurdles and urged allottees to make timely payment of their installments to ensure speedy completion of the project.

Secretary Housing and Commander Engineer NLC Brigadier Muhammad Salman Malik also addressed the event. The secretary assured that all grievances and concerns of stakeholders, including landowners, allottees, contractors and FGEHA, would be addressed promptly.

As per the agreement, the infrastructure development work in the two sectors will be completed within three years. Besides these sectors, F-12 and G-12 are also stalled, and FGEHA is currently preparing PC-Is.

However, sources said it would be a highly difficult task for the authority to get possession of land in sector G-12, where massive construction has already taken place. FGEHA, on the other hand, is hopeful of launching F-12 and G-12 soon.

Meanwhile, at the time of the ceremony, some allottees of Green Enclave-I Bhara Kau staged a protest demonstration, urging the minister to focus on completion of the stalled housing scheme. Later, the allottees issued a press release urging Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and the housing minister to immediately complete development work on the FGEHA Green Enclave-I project, initiated in 2009.

They said government employees, women and senior citizens staged a peaceful protest at the inauguration ceremony of F-14 and F-15.

The protesters stated that FGEHA had been delaying the project since 2009.

They further said the project’s name frequently appears in the news as if development work has been completed and possession is about to be handed over, but in reality no such progress has been made.

They added that none of the phases of the scheme has been completed yet. The protesters were assured by MNAs Anjum Aqeel and Malik Ibrar that they would take up their issues at relevant forums.

Like Green Enclave, development work in Sky Garden is also facing delays.

Other delayed projects include Kashmir Apartment Project, Lifestyle Afro Apartments and Skyline Apartments in Chaklala.

FGEHA spokesperson Faiz Ahmed Sial said that all stalled projects were being put back on track and that development work would soon be expedited where it is slow, while work would resume on halted projects. “We are moving forward with a clear vision and timeline,” he said.
