OKARA: The Employees Old age Benefit Institution (EOBI) has allegedly denied the payment of the increased pension amount to more than 300 elderly labourers, including dozens of women.
An elderly pensioner, Comrade Abdul Majeed (92) says that the federal finance ministry had announced an increased of Rs1,500 in the EOBI pension for the retired workers in 2025-26 national budget, raising the pension from Rs10,000 to Rs11,500, with effect from January 2025.
He says that accordingly, these 300 Okara-based pensioners, including women, were paid the increased pension, along with the pending amount, after eight months in November, 2025.
However, he says that the EOBI, has transferred only Rs10,000 per month pensions to the workers in January and February, 2026, denying them the Rs1,500 raise.
He says that the local EOBI officials are unable to explain this anomaly in the payment of the pension.
He demanded the EOBI high-ups to take notice of the situation and restore the increased pension amount.
