LAHORE: The Punjab government has announced summer vacation for all public and private schools across the province from May 22 to Aug 23 amid rising temperatures and heatwave concerns.

According to a notification issued by the Punjab School Education Department on May 11, all schools will remain closed from May 22 to Aug 23, while academic activities will resume on Aug 24 (Monday).

The decision was approved during a provincial cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz.

Punjab Education Minister Rana Sikandar Hayat also confirmed the three-month summer break in a statement issued through his spokesperson and later shared the announcement on his official Facebook account.

The notification directed all chief executive officers of district education authorities across Punjab to ensure strict implementation of the decision.

Last month, schools in Punjab had been advised to alter working hours or announce early vacation due to an intense heatwave affecting several parts of the country.
