DERA GHAZI KHAN: Tribal people in the Koh-i-Suleiman region blocked the main Balochistan Road at Taunsa Sharif, cutting off the road link between Punjab and Balochistan in protest against the government’s decision to relocate the National Database and Registration Authority (Nadra) office from Fazila to Taunsa Sharif.

Demonstrators blocked the road by placing stones and bushes, throwing the inter-provincial traffic out of gear.

They chanted slogans and rejected the move as an act of injustice toward the residents of Koh-i-Suleiman region.

The protesters’ leaders argued that the relocation of the Nadra office would cause hardship for the locals, forcing them to travel through a difficult terrain to reach the new office located at Taunsa for essential documentation services.

The tribesmen have demand the authorities to immediately reverse the decision to relocate Nadra office, insisting that the facility should remain at Fazila for people’s convenience.

DG Khan Deputy Commissioner Usman Khalid later told Dawn that the road had been cleared by Border Military Police (BMP) to restore the inter-provincial traffic.

He further stated that the decision to relocate the Nadra office was taken by the federal government.

BMP Commandant Ameer Taimoor stated that the Nadra officials have transported their equipment from Fazila, while the road has been cleared.
