ISLAMABAD: Amid reports that the PTI interim chairman refused an offer to visit incarcerated party chief Imran Khan, Barrister Gohar Ali Khan said he was not asked by the government or the jail authorities to see Mr Khan in prison.

In a statement issued on Wednesday, the PTI leader rejected the rumours on social media and said there had been no such offer on the table in light of a court directive. He said he was ready to meet Mr Khan anytime if the authorities allowed him to visit him in jail. The rumours started making rounds on Tuesday after the Islamabad High Court reportedly allowed the PTI leaders to meet the party founder in the Adiala jail and when the meeting did not take place, Barrister Gohar was accused of not meeting Mr Khan despite the opportunity.

Opp leaders concerned about PTI founder’s health, ask govt to allow personal physician to see him

Separately, the Tehreek-i-Tahafuz Ayeen-i-Pakistan expressed concerns after reports emerged that Imran Khan was taken to a hospital for treatment by the government without taking his family into confidence.

“This has caused severe concern within the party and his family,” Barrister Gohar said.

Salman Akram Raja said Imran Khan’s personal physician had no political affiliation, so he should be allowed to examine him. Leader of the Opposition in the Senate Allama Raja Nasir Abbas said that the public had rejected those who were in power and a ‘black day’ will be observed on Feb 8.

Meanwhile, two new members were included in the PTI political committee. Zulfiqar Abbas Bokhari has been appointed as the adviser to Imran Khan on international relations and international media. Intazar Panjotha had been appointed as the chief organiser of the Insaf Lawyers Forum.
