RAWALPINDI: The Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) conducted an operation in Judicial Colony to clear illegal constructions and restore access for local residents by reopening the road for the general public.

According to a press release, the operation was carried out under the supervision of Director General RDA Kinza Murtaza.

As a result of the action, public access was restored and the long-standing inconvenience faced by local residents was resolved.

The action was taken under the provisions of the Punjab Development of Cities Act, 1976, and the RDA Building and Zoning Regulations, 2021. Heavy machinery was used to remove the encroachments strictly in accordance with the law.

The RDA management reiterated its firm commitment to eliminating illegal encroachments across the city to ensure unobstructed public spaces, smooth traffic flow and improved civic facilities.

Such operations will continue on a regular basis in line with the Authority’s mandate to uphold urban planning standards and safeguard public rights.

Ms Murtaza directed the Enforcement Squad to take strict action against all encroachments and illegal residential-cum-commercial activities without fear or favour.

She also directed the concerned directorate to conduct a comprehensive survey regarding fees and charges related to the approval of illegal buildings, commercialisation, complementary maps and structural plans, and to regularise illegal residential-cum-commercial buildings within RDA-controlled areas in accordance with the law.

She emphasised that the Authority remains fully committed to ensuring proper urban development and effective regulation of the city.

She urged the public to demonstrate moral responsibility, cooperate with the authority, and voluntarily remove encroachments to avoid future legal action and financial losses.
