LAKKI MARWAT: Police personnel, with the help of the counter-terrorism department’s commandos, destroyed militant hideouts and sanctuaries during a major operation in the trans-river belt here on Monday.

The operation was conducted within the limits of Dadiwala police station on the special instructions of Bannu Regional Police Officer Sajjad Khan under the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s police zero tolerance policy against terrorism, according to a police official.

He told reporters that along with police and CTD personnel, the armed volunteers of peace committees also took part in the operation in the remote rural areas bordering Karak and Mianwali districts.

“In the Kaichi Kamar area, the law enforcers destroyed the hideouts of militants Kaleemullah alias Qeema and Naik Nawaz alias Naik Amal,” he said.

Police say terrorists, their facilitators won’t be spared

The official said the safe havens established by terrorists Awal Noor and Sher Nawaz were also dismantled by the law-enforcement personnel.

He said that the sanctuaries of terrorists Irfan alias Paan and Sajjad were also eliminated in the Wanda Bhawali area during the operation.

“The operation was meant to give a clear message to the terrorists and their facilitators that they would not be spared at all and all those elements challenging the writ of state would face stern legal action,” he said.

The official said that the police would continue conducting such operations until the last terrorist was eliminated from the region.

KILLED: A young man was killed by rivals near Baistkhel within the limits of Serai Gambila police station on Monday.

Police said that Noor Aslam, along with an accomplice, attacked Asifullah, 22, and his uncle, Salahuddin, with arms when they were going to the judicial complex on their motorcycle.

They said that Asifullah received critical injuries and died instantly, while his uncle narrowly escaped the firing attack.

The police said that the body was moved to the tehsil headquarters hospital in Serai Naurang for medico-legal formalities.

Police registered a case against the suspects and began an investigation.

Also, two wanted outlaws were arrested in injured condition after an exchange of fire in the Adamzai area on Monday.

A police official said that the fire was exchanged within the limits of Tajori police station.

He said that a party of Tajori police station reached the rural locality when local police officials received information about the presence of wanted suspects there.

“On seeing police, the armed men opened fire and tried to escape but they were captured after a brief gun battle,” he claimed.

The official identified the injured men as Jamshed and Tahir saying they’re wanted by police in a robbery case.

He said that the detainees were shifted to a hospital and a case was registered against them.
