Musharraf due in Boston today

NEW YORK, Feb 7: President Pervez Musharraf is expected to arrive in Boston on Friday on a private visit three days ahead of his official visit to the United States which begins on Feb 12.

Ambassador of Pakistan Maleeha Lodhi told Dawn on Thursday that “indeed the President would be arriving in Boston on Friday. But it will be a strictly private visit.”

President Musharraf’s son who is a Chartered Accountant (Actuary) lives and works in Boston and Mr Musharraf wants to take the opportunity to visit with him before he embarks on the official visit to Washington.

Ms Lodhi said that no other official or the news media has been invited to come to Boston. However, she is expected to travel to Boston to be at hand to meet the President at the airport.

Other members of President Musharraf’s official delegation, Finance Minister Shaukat Aziz, Foreign Minister Abdul Sattar and Commerce Minister Razzak Dawood are expected to arrive in Washington separately.
