CHARSADDA/MANSEHRA: Three children died of burn injuries in two separate fire incidents in Charsadda and Lower Kohistan on Thursday.

In the first incident, a huge blast took place in the house of a resident, Ibrahim Khan, in Charsadda on Wednesday night due to a gas leak, destroying a room, Rescue 1122 officials said.

As a result, Ibrahim Khan sustained injuries and his five-year-old son Rahimullah and six-year-old daughter Spogmai died. The injured Ibrahim was shifted to DHQ hospital, Charsadda.

Meanwhile, a one-year-old girl was burnt to death after a house with around a dozen rooms was gutted in a massive fire in mountainous Khanokheil area of Lower Kohistan, an official of Rescue 1122, told reporters on Thursday.

The fire, which broke out due to an electric short circuit, rapidly spread across the entire house.

“Residents rushed to the scene and rescued women and children from the intense blaze that shot high into the sky, while some people also sustained burn injuries,” Mr Duraj said.

He said that a minor girl who was asleep in one of the rooms could not be rescued and was burned to death. Her completely charred body was later recovered from the house.

Mr Duraj added that the entire house, where several families were living, was completely destroyed.
