Fleet of 24 e-buses inaugurated

BAHAWALPUR: A fleet of 24 e-buses for four routes of the city and its suburbs was inaugurated on Tuesday.

Punjab Transport Minister Bilal Akbar along with minister Kazim Pirzada, Punjab Assembly Deputy Speaker Malik Zaheer Iqbal Channar, MNA Malik Muhammad Iqbal Channar, former

governor Balighur Rehman and PML-N’s MPAs jointly inaugurated the buses at the ceremony.

Speaking on the occasion, the deputy speaker recounted the achievements of Maryam’s government in the province particularly in Bahawalpur.

He mentioned the financial grants given by the government for the improvement of the local zoo and other projects.

Minister Kazim Pirzada said that under the CM’s leadership,

the province was marching on the road of progress and the e-buses project was a clear proof of this.

The transport minister said that the e-bus service would soon be introduced in Rahim Yar Khan, while the buses would start plying within the next two months in Multan.

ARRESTED: The Daniwal Police of Vehari district claimed on Tuesday to have arrested an injured criminal involved in 48 cases after an encounter near Green Town in Shairabad area.

According to the police, a Daniwal patrolling team signalled two suspects on a motorcycle to stop, however, they allegedly opened indiscriminate firing which was also retaliated in self-defence.

Police said that after the exchange of fire stopped, one suspect was found seriously injured by the firing of his own accomplice, who had managed to flee under the cover of darkness.

The injured was identified as Imran, a resident of village 9/11 WB, who was a record-holder in 48 cases and wanted in nine cases of Luddan and Mitroo police stations.

Daniwal SHO Mazhar Farid Gondal shifted the injured to the hospital for treatment.

The police claimed to recover a snatched motorcycle and a pistol from the injured suspect.

Police registered a case against his fleeing accomplice and a police team had been tasked with tracking them down.
