ISLAMABAD: After holding a two-day organic community market at F-7/3, the Metropolitan Corporation Islamabad (MCI) on Sunday stated that it has been made a regular feature.
Chief Officer Dr Anam Fatima said after receiving good response from citizens, MCI has decided to hold the market on a weekly basis (on Saturday-Sunday) in various parks on rotation basis.
“The market aims to provide residents of Islamabad with access to natural, chemical-free and eco-friendly products while encouraging a healthy and mindful lifestyle. A wide range of products were on display, including organic vegetables, high-quality paneer, homemade bakery items, natural food products, handcrafted art and craft items, and eco-friendly furniture,” said a press release issued by MCI.
It said in addition to promoting organic products, the initiative emphasises solid waste management, plastic-free practices and the responsible use of green spaces. Waste segregation measures have been introduced and vendors and visitors are encouraged to maintain cleanliness and protect the park’s natural environment.
“The Islamabad Organic Community Market also provides a valuable platform for local farmers, artisans and small producers to directly connect with consumers. The initiative has received an encouraging response from families, who appreciated the calm, green, and well-managed environment.
Entry to the market is restricted to families only, ensuring a safe, peaceful and family-friendly atmosphere.”
It said MCI remains committed to promoting community-oriented initiatives that support public health, environmental protection, solid waste management, and the sustainable use of public spaces in Islamabad.
