RAWALPINDI: More than 700 kanals of land will be allocated for a model fruit and vegetable market, with two sites identified near the Rawalpindi Ring Road.
Special Assistant to the Punjab Chief Minister for Price Control and Commodities Management Salma Butt visited the proposed sites for the Agriculture Production Market in Rawalpindi on Thursday.
She visited the proposed locations for the model mandi near Banth Mor and Chak Beli Khan, where she was briefed by the concerned authorities about the proposed fruit and vegetable market.
The briefing informed that over 700 kanals of land would be allocated for the model market to meet the needs of citizens at the local level. The special assistant sought a detailed plan for the proposed project.
Speaking on the occasion, Salma Butt said that the completion of the Rawalpindi Ring Road project and its surroundings would bring a revolution at the local level. “The establishment of a fruit and vegetable market is an old demand of the local population. I will discuss this matter with the chief minister of Punjab,” she said.
She added that a model market, built according to modern standards, would be established for the citizens of Rawalpindi and would be equipped with state-of-the-art facilities.
