PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government on Friday announced winter vacation for the educational institutions starting from January 1 in the summer zone and December 23 in the winter zone.

The winter vacation has been delayed for a week in summer zone due to relatively less cold weather. Usually the winter vacation in the summer zone starts from December 22.

In this connection, two separate notifications were issued by the elementary and secondary education and higher education departments announcing two different dates for starting the winter vacation for the winter and summer zones.

According to a notification issued by the E&SE department, winter vacation will be from January 1, 2026 till January 15 in the summer zone, while it will be from December 23 till February 28, 2026 in the winter zone.

Similarly, colleges and universities will remain closed for winter vacation from January 1 till January 15, 2026 in the summer zone and from December 25 till February 28, 2026 in the winter zone.
