ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) has named MNA Shahid Khattak a member of its political committee, following his appointment as chief organiser of the Insaf Students Federation (ISF).

A notification issued by the party’s Central Secretariat confirmed the move and bears the signatures of PTI Secretary General Salman Akram Raja and Additional Secretary General Firdous Shamim Naqvi.

With Khattak’s addition, the number of members on the political committee has reached 24.

The party also acknowledged the work of Khalid Khurshid, who stepped down from his role as chief organiser of the student federation.

“The party also acknowledges the meritorious service of Khalid Khurshid, who has stepped down from his role as chief organiser of ISF,” the party’s media secretariat said in a statement.

“During his tenure, Khalid Khurshid enjoyed the full confidence of PTI’s founding chairman Imran Khan. He will continue to contribute to the party as President of Gilgit-Baltistan and Youth Wing Organiser.”

The appointment follows a recent restructuring of the committee. Earlier this month, incarcerated PTI founder Imran Khan dissolved the party’s previous political committee, which had around 40 members, amid reported disagreements within the party.

A new 23-member committee was formed later. Its members included Gohar Ali Khan, Salman Akram Raja, Firdous Shamim Naqvi, Sheikh Waqas Akram, Sohail Afridi, Allama Raja Nasir Abbas, Mahmood Khan Achakzai, Omar Ayub, Shibli Faraz, Moeen-ud-Din Riaz Qureshi, Malik Ahmad Khan Bhachar, Sajjad Burki, Aliya Hamza, Junaid Akbar, Haleem Adil, Dawood Kakar, Khalid Khursheed, Sardar Qayyum Niazi, Asad Qaiser, Amir Dogar, Fawzia Arshad, Kanwal Shauzab and Dr Lal Chand Malhi.
