GUJRAT: The Federal Investigation Agency Gujranwala Zone claimed to have arrested at least eight more human traffickers during a crackdown in the region.

The arrests have been made in Gujrat, Gujranwala, Sialkot, Narowal and Hafizabad districts.

A spokesman for FIA said suspect Muhammad Afzal had received a sum of Rs650,000 from a citizen to send him abroad but did not fulfil the commitment and suspect Amjad had received Rs800,000 from the complainant to send him to Malaysia.

Similarly, he said suspect Imran Chatha had taken Rs1.7 million from a person to send him to Poland whereas suspects Umar Farooq and Luqman had received Rs1.8m from a citizen to send him to Germany.

The suspect Tariq Ali, he said, had received a sum of Rs3.6m to send a client to Spain whereas Muhammad Afzal had got Rs700,000 from a citizen to send him to Poland and suspect Aamir Sohail had taken Rs2m for sending a citizen to Saudi Arabia.

The arrested trafficker had failed in sending their clients abroad and also declined to return the received amounts.

The FIA Gujrat, Sialkot and Gujranwala circles have started investigation from the arrested suspects after registration of cases against them.
