TAXILA: Police in Jand have arrested a man on charges of sexually assaulting a teacher after allegedly deceiving her with a false promise of marriage, officials said on Saturday.

According to police, the victim, a schoolteacher, submitted a written complaint with the Jand police station stating that the suspect, a resident of Chora Sharif, gained her trust by assuring marriage and allegedly subjected her to sexual assault.

In her complaint, the woman alleged that while she was on her way to school, the suspect intercepted her and persuaded her to travel to Islamabad under the pretext of solemnising their marriage.

She said near the CPEC Galyal area, the suspect diverted the vehicle off the road and allegedly assaulted her in a nearby wooded area.

Police said a case was promptly registered, and the nominated suspect was arrested. Further investigation is underway.
