DERA GHAZI KHAN: A district dispute resolution committee (DDRC), headed by the deputy commissioner, is being established to resolve land disputes in 90 days.

A meeting was held under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner Dera Ghazi Khan Muhammad Usman Khalid, regarding the Punjab Protection of Ownership Ordinance 2025. The meeting was attended by District Police Officer Tariq Wilayat, Additional Deputy Commissioner Revenue Syed Usman Munir Bukhari, along with revenue and police officers, and representatives from other relevant departments.

During the meeting, a detailed briefing was given on the Punjab Protection of Ownership Ordinance 2025, introduced by the Punjab government, and instructions were issued regarding its implementation.

DC Usman Khalid said under this law, strict action will be taken against the land mafia, illegal transfers and the seizure of property through fraudulent documents. He declared that the mafia must either vacate the illegal occupations or be prepared to go to jail. This committee will be bound to resolve land-related applications within 90 days and possession will be restored within 24 hours of the decision.

The DC said under the ordinance, the punishment for any illegal occupation or fraud can be imprisonment from five to 10 years, while a person found guilty of abetting or conspiring can face up to three years of jail and a fine.

Police have registered a case against four suspects under sections 375 and 367 of Pakistan Penal Code on the complaint of her father.

Police said the victim was abducted while on her way to school. The complainant said four men forcibly took her to a building where the assault took place.

Police have initiated legal action and shifted the victim to hospital for medical examination.
