The troublesome rain

This is with reference to the story “The troublesome rain” by Syed Talha Rizwan (YW, September 13). This story depicts the bravery of two friends, who didn’t care about their own lives when they helped an old man. Their dedication and sacrifice show what it means to be a responsible citizen. Sometimes things can be dangerous, but saving someone’s life is our responsibility.

Furthermore, this story reminds us to stay calm and help others during tough times.

It teaches us to remember safety rules and be ready to act when someone really needs help.

The story “The troublesome rain” by Syed Talha Rizwan was an incredibly powerful read as it captured the sudden transition from the joy of rain to the terror of a natural disaster hitting poor city infrastructure.

However, the story also serves as a critical warning. The writer noted that the boys were “too excited to enjoy the rain” and “didn’t really pay heed” to their parents’ warnings about wires and open manholes. Farid’s electrocution, though he survived, was the direct and terrifying result of ignoring that caution.

The story reminds us that while heroism is commendable, safety precautions are non-negotiable during a flood.

A lesson learnt

This is with reference to the story “A lesson learnt” by Soubia Ahmed (YW, September 20). The story highlighted the importance of including essential foods in our diet. Eating too much unhealthy food can make us lazy and eventually harm our health. Our bodies need nutritious foods to stay fit, active and focused in daily life, including our studies.

The story “A lesson learnt” by Soubia Ahmed, highlights a problem many young people face today: feeling tired and unmotivated because of unhealthy diet.

The writer showed Fariha’s struggles really well, from losing interest in her studies to feeling constantly exhausted, which her mother thought was just laziness. I liked how the story made it clear that her problems were caused by poor nutrition, not her attitude.

Even though Fariha had to learn the hard way, the message of the story is positive. Her decision to encourage her friends to eat healthily was a great way to end it.
