ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Wednesday expressed strong displeasure over the report submitted by a police committee headed by SSP Investigation in the case concerning the alleged illegal arrest of a woman and her three daughters from Lahore, a matter linked to the multi-million-rupee Naval Farms land scam.

Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kayani reserved the verdict after hearing arguments in a petition filed by citizen Mohammad Waqas.

During the proceedings, the court questioned the police investigation and said officers involved had conducted a dishonest and misleading inquiry.

The court remarked that a case would be registered against the police officers responsible and directed yhe director general of the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) to investigate the matter.

Justice Kayani observed that the police had raided Lahore without obtaining a search warrant or permission from the local authorities, and later registered a false case to justify their actions.

“There is CCTV footage showing that a woman and three girls were taken from Lahore. Did you make an entry in the local police station? You people should drown in shame,” the judge remarked, criticising the investigation team for failing to visit Lahore or record key statements.

He said the police had filed false papers to support their case and appeared to be acting under the influence of an influential complainant.

Advocate Sardar Latif Khosa, representing the petitioner, said the complainant, former PIA chief executive officer Musharraf Rasool Cyan, was an influential bureaucrat whose influence led to the violation of the sanctity of the home.
