LARKANA: Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Sindh President Nisar Ahmed Khuhro on Thursday said there is no likelihood of any changes in the Sindh Cabinet at the moment, though the party leadership can reshuffle it at any time.

He was addressing the members of PPP Larkana division executive committee in Banguldero and talking to journalists at the residence of Abdul Fatah Bhutto, divisional general secretary of the party.

He said that since the Bhasha, Mohmand, and Diamer dams are already under construction, their completion should be ensured.

He said that right now the country is facing a flood-like situation and people in Punjab are suffering from it. “We sympathise with them. PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari will also visit Punjab,” he said.

Mr Khuhro warned that from Sept 2 and 3, between 600,000 to 700,000 cusecs of water will enter the Indus River from Panjnad between the Guddu and Taunsa barrages, and it remains to be seen how much water that will actually be.

In reply to a question, he said, when water rises and recedes in the Indus River, it puts pressure on the embankments. The case of Aqil Bund (embankment) was when the river carried 1.2 million cusecs of water and the same was said about Aqil Bund then. Currently, the river has only 500,000 to 600,000 cusecs of water, even then the pressure exists.

Regarding the Sindh Cabinet, he said, reshuffles are nothing new, but at present, there are no such discussions. Any changes are always up to the party’s leadership, which can reshuffle it at any time — it is not an issue. For now, the situation remains the same, he said.

He also spoke about a recent tragic incident in Larkana where a young man belonging to the Bhatti community was killed after his friend died of a heart attack.

Earlier, a man from the Narija community was also killed. “Our stance is that the interior minister should visit Larkana and speak with the administration about why such incidents are happening there,” he said.
