ISLAMABAD: Robbers murdered a bakery owner in Jhangi Syedan in Islamabad, police said on Tuesday. The deceased was identified as Mohammad Aslam.

The police said when the owner of the bakery and sweet shop was opening his outlet, three persons armed men entered the shop and held up the owner at gunpoint.

The robbers made an attempt to loot cash and valuables from him, but he put up resistance which resulted in physical fight between them. During the scuffle the robbers opened fire as a result the shop owner sustained a bullet injury and fell on the ground.

Shortly the robbers escaped from the spot as people present nearby rushed to the shop after hearing the gunshots.

Mohammad Islam, the deceased’s son, told the police said that his father used to open the bakery after morning prayers. He (Islam) along with his brother was coming to the shop when the incident took place.

He and his brother saw three persons scuffling with his father. Later, the gunmen resorted to indiscriminate firing and as a result his father sustained bullet in his abdomen, and the robbers escaped from the spot in a car.

Later, they took the injured to hospital but he died before reaching there.

A case has been registered at Noon police station under sections 302 and 397 against three persons in response to the complaint lodged by the victim’s son.
