KARACHI: The Sindh High Court has dismissed a petition of a former officer of the Pakistan Steel Mills seeking post-retrenchment dues.

A two-judge constitutional bench, headed by Justice Mohammad Karim Khan Agha, said that the petitioner may avail remedy regarding outstanding dues before the competent forum under the relevant laws.

It observed that the PSM had been shut down in 2015 and its various former employees still continued to seek post-retrenchment dues.

The bench noted that since PSM had experienced a significant financial loss it was not feasible to issue directive to grant a financial relief under Article 199 of the Constitution.

Former deputy manager of PSM had petitioned the SHC in 2022 seeking post-retrenchment dues including provident fund, gratuity and other benefits.
