RAWALPINDI: A teenage boy was killed, and four others sustained injuries after their speeding car crashed into the roadside concrete barrier on Old Airport Road on Thursday.
Separately, people ignored the ban on aerial firing as a woman and a three-month-old girl were critically injured after being hit by stray bullets in Ratta Amral and City police areas. Later the infant girl died in the hospital
The first accident occurred near Shah Khalid Colony (Old Airport Road) when a car carrying five young people crashed into a roadside concrete barrier due to excessive speed.
As a result, one of the occupants, identified as Asad Hussain Shah, 15, died, while four others, including Zulqarnain Shah, 15, Hassan, 17, Shahzain, 16, and Hasnat, 18, sustained multiple fractures and injuries.
Shortly after the accident, Rescue 1122 crews arrived at the scene and transported the dead and injured to Benazir Bhutto Hospital (BBH).
Emergency services stated that the accident was caused by overspeeding.
Meanwhile, a woman and a three-month-old girl were injured after stray bullets from aerial firing struck them in the city and Ratta Amral area on Thursday.
The woman was injured after a stray bullet hit her head while she was on the roof of her house on Wednesday.
The injured woman, identified as Rashida, was taken to Benazir Bhutto Hospital, where she was reported to be in critical condition.
The brother of the injured woman, Tariq, told police that he and his sister, Rashida, were on the roof of their house when a stray bullet from an unknown location hit her. She was later transferred to the District Headquarters Hospital in critical condition.
A three-month-old infant girl, identified as Zimal Sulaiman from the Glass Factory area, was brought to DHQ Hospital with a bullet injury.
The infant’s father told police that they were watching a fireworks display at Liaquat Bagh Chowk when an object from the fireworks hit her head.
Later, it was confirmed that the infant’s injury was caused by aerial firing.
The infant was reported to be in critical condition.
