GUJRANWALA: The Gujranwala Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GCCI) has expressed reservations over the adjustment and recovery of seven-year-old RLNG bills, terming it an anti-industry decision.
In a joint statement, GCCI President Rana Muhammad Sadiq Khan, Senior Vice President Ahmad Naveed Ranjha, and Vice President Chaudhry Muhammad Yousaf said that reopening bills from April 2015 to June 2022—already paid in full at the then-notified tariff—and applying retrospective adjustments was not only unjust but also a threat to industrial survival.
The chamber leaders warned that the decision has severely impacted Gujranwala’s glass, chemical, paper, electric cable, and copper industries, disrupting cash flows and placing thousands of workers’ jobs at risk.
In letters to the Federal Minister for Petroleum, Secretary Petroleum Division, OGRA Chairman, and SNGPL Managing Director, the GCCI demanded the immediate withdrawal of the bills.
They further urged OGRA and SNGPL to provide legal basis and complete details of the decision and called for the formation of an independent committee including chamber and affected industry representatives.
The chamber cautioned that if the “unjust” decision is not reversed, industrialists will be left with no option but to pursue all constitutional and legal avenues to safeguard their interests.
