LAHORE: A drone fell down in Manawan near the Cantonment area here on Friday.

Some initial reports surfaced in this respect had called it an Indian drone but the police sources rejected them, saying the device was a local gadget.

They said some elements in Lahore had been using the locally-manufactured drones for cross-border drug smuggling.

Apparently, it was the same drone that went down itself probably due to some technical fault, a senior police officer told Dawn. He added that the security agencies also reached the site on being alerted and seized the gadget for further investigation.

To a question, the police official said that some powerful mafias were involved in cross-border drug smuggling through drones and some devices were taken into custody in the past.
