KARACHI, May 18: Advisor on local government Waseem Akhtar has directed that public complaints against local government institutions should immediately be redressed while all inquiries by the Local Government Commission be expeditiously completed and sent to the chief secretary with recommendations for appropriate action.

Presiding over a meeting of the SLGC here on Thursday, the advisor showed his displeasure against the DCO of Karachi on two issues and directed that the recommendations be made to the chief secretary for punitive action against him.

The meeting was informed that DCO Karachi took no action against Director of Land, Zahid Amin, and also failed to submit comments on disputed plot of Americano.

The meeting also decided to send recommendations to the chief secretary for strict punitive action as the allegations made by former nazim Kandhkot against DCO Badruddin Ujjan could not be proved. The commission decided to suspend Secretary UC-7 Gadap Town from service under the SLGO.

In view of growing differences between Nazim and Naib nazim Larkana District Government, the commission decided to sort out the matter through special audit of accounts and record.

Instructions were issued to the DCO Larkana for immediate recovery of illegal and extraordinary expenses made.

With consensus, the Advisor approved the inspection format for taluka/town municipal administration while directive were issued to project director DSSP for submitting a complete review of development activities in the next meeting.

Waseem Akhtar called for submission of reports after completing all inquiries at the earliest against government officials and to provide justice to people within the framework of law and with transparency.—APP
